2007 ChoicePoint Windward Challenge 5K Charity Run/Walk Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at 6:30 p.m. For the past seven years, the ChoicePoint Windward Challenge has allowed us to get together as neighbors for a common cause and raise over $400,000 for various non-profit organizations. Last year, the race raised $92,000 and drew more than 400 participants to support SafeAmerica and the Atlanta YWCA’s TechGYRLS initiative. This year, the event will support Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Children’s is recognized for excellence in more than 30 pediatric specialties, including cancer, cardiac, neonatal, orthopedic and transplant care. Child magazine ranks Children’s as one of the top five children’s hospitals nationwide and Children’s is among U.S. News & World Report’s top pediatric hospitals. Without the generosity of donors, Children’s simply would not be able to expand facilities and enhance services critical to meeting community demand. In fact, the demand is a significant one: Atlanta’s pediatric population is one of the fastest growing in the U.S. and is expected to increase by 120,000 in the next three years. With your help, we can provide critical resources to aid this premier pediatric hospital in offering outstanding services to our children. Active people of all ages are welcome! Bring your family, including your dog, for a fun and healthy early evening activity. Last year, more than 400 people participated. This year, we will host post-race family-oriented activities along with the awards ceremony to thank participants for their support.
